Grading Standards

ACE 10

An Ace 10 card meets the highest standards of condition and presentation. Each Ace 10 card exhibits:

  • Corners: Perfectly sharp with no visible wear
  • Edges: Clean and intact with no chipping or flaws
  • Surface: Smooth, glossy, and free from scratches, stains, or defects
  • Centering: Nearly perfect visual alignment front and back

*The RAM Ace 10 permits one very minor imperfection under close inspection, resulting in one single 9.5 and three 10’s across any combination of grading categories. All other aspects must meet Ace 10 standards.

MINT 10

A Mint 10 card represents near-perfect condition. Corners are sharp, edges pristine, and the surface retains full original gloss. The image is nearly perfectly centered front and back.

NEAR MINT 9

A Near Mint 9 card has four sharp corners with only minor wear visible. Slight edge imperfections may be present but are unobtrusive. The surface retains all original gloss, though one minor flaw, or a minor printing defect is acceptable.

PREMIUM 8

A Premium 8 card is a high-quality card that closely approaches Mint 9, but may display minor imperfections upon closer inspection. These can include slight wear or fraying at one or two corners, a very small wax mark, minor printing defects, or slightly off-white borders.

EXCELLENT 7

An Excellent 7 card displays minor wear that is noticeable upon close inspection but does not significantly detract from the overall appeal. Corners may show slight fraying, edges may have minor chipping, and small surface imperfections or light scratches are acceptable. Centering is generally well-balanced and visually appealing.

GREAT 6

A Great 6 card shows more obvious signs of handling or minor damage. Corners may be moderately worn, edges may have noticeable chipping, and surface imperfections such as light scratches or minor stains are present. Centering is reasonably balanced, though slight misalignment may be apparent.

FINE 5

A Fine 5 card exhibits clear wear and handling. Corners are rounded, edges show moderate chipping, and the surface may have scratches, light stains, or minor creasing. Minor printing or focus imperfections are acceptable. Centering may be slightly off but does not prevent the card from being visually recognizable.

GOOD 4

A Good 4 card shows significant wear and handling. Corners are noticeably worn or frayed, edges have moderate chipping, and the surface may contain scratches, creases, or light staining. The card remains intact and visually recognizable.  Centering is approximate; slight misalignment is expected.

MODEST 3

A Modest 3 card is heavily worn and shows substantial signs of damage. Corners are rounded or frayed, edges are heavily chipped, and the surface may have multiple scratches, creases, stains, or minor tears. Centering may be significantly off, but the card is still largely intact and identifiable.

FAIR 2

A Poor 2 card is in very low condition, with extreme wear or multiple defects. Corners and edges are heavily damaged, the surface is significantly impaired with scratches, stains, creases, or small pieces missing. Centering is generally off, and the card shows heavy signs of use but is still recognizable.

POOR 1

A Poor 1 card is severely damaged and may be fragile. Corners and edges are heavily frayed, surfaces are extremely worn, and the card may have major creases, tears, staining, or other significant defects. Centering is not considered. The card remains identifiable but is in the lowest collectible condition.

DUFF 0.5

A Duff 0.5 card is in extremely poor condition and exhibits severe deterioration. Corners and edges are heavily frayed or missing, the surface shows extensive creasing, staining, tears, or large portions may be absent. The card may be fragile and require careful handling. Centering is generally off-center or uneven and precise alignment is not expected due to the card’s condition.
